Domain Registration

You can give your Web site a more professional look and feel by registering your own domain. For example, if your organization is called My Widgets, you might want to register the domain mywidgets.com. In this case, links to your site would appear as http://www.mywidgets.com. Without a domain registration, links to your site will instead appear something like http://www.softcircuits.net/mywidgets/. When your Web site has its own domain, users can't tell from the link who is hosting your site. Instead, the link appears just like a link to large companies such as Microsoft and IBM.

Note that you can only register a domain that is available. To see if the domain you want is available, go to http://www.whois.com.
